Kindly ensure that
you have a valid passport and you obtain your visas well in
advance. You are advised to keep your passports, tickets &
foreign exchange in your possession while you are travelling
and in a safe when you are in the hotel. In the event of loss
of your passport, if you are a foreigner travelling in India
or an Indian travelling abroad, please report the loss to the
nearest police station and thereafter to the nearest consulate/embassy.
It is suggested that you make
a few copies of the relevant pages of your passport . Carry
a few copies in your suitcase and also leave one with a relative
/friend at home. In the event you lose your passport you have
the relevant details handy.
Hotels in India especially the
five and four star are of international standards and the ambience,
comfort, cuisine and services they provide can be compared to
the best in the world. The deluxe hotels and the palace hotels
are an experience which would set them apart from any other.
The three star hotels are for a thrifty traveler and the two
and one star are for the backpackers / small budget tourists.
India has one of the largest railway networks
and rail journeys are most interesting. Please don't compare
the Indian Railways to Amtrax or Eurail as they are not of the
same standards. It is recommended to book seats or berths in
the 1st or 2nd class air-conditioned compartments. It is essential

Please go slow on spicy food on your arrival unless you are
used to it. Your system will slowly tune to the delicious Indian
cuisine. You can request the restaurant to mildly spice the
food you order.

when you need it and a goodhospital like elsewhere in the world
is expensive.
Don't use new shoes or fancy ones. Carry comfortable
walking shoes which you are used to wearing.
Carry clothes which you feel comfortable in. Cottons
